The Transport Accident Commission (TAC) has announced an exciting collaboration with digital health company The Clinician, to support the collection and analysis of real-time health data, helping physiotherapists use outcome measures to understand client needs. This innovative partnership aims to enhance the quality of care and improve outcomes for TAC clients.

The TAC's Enhanced Recovery Program, developed in conjunction with TAC clients and providers, will leverage The Clinician's digital platform, ZEDOC, to gather comprehensive information about clients' self-reported health outcomes and experiences. By rapidly analysing responses to targeted questions, using validated patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient reported experience measures (PREMs), the program will provide physiotherapists with valuable insights. These will inform their clinical decisions and assist the physiotherapist to deliver relevant communication and educational materials to TAC clients.

This partnership with The Clinician will give physiotherapists access to digital information that can help them achieve their aims to deliver high-quality, patient-centred care,’ said the TAC’s Lidia Stojanovski, Senior Manager for Value-Based Healthcare. “This will improve the experiences of our clients and providers and help us support the most effective care and best possible outcomes for people injured in transport accidents.”

During the initial phase of the program, a small cohort of TAC clients and physiotherapists will participate to allow for refinement of the process. This iterative approach will ensure the program's effectiveness and pave the way for broader implementation in the future.
The TAC's collaboration with The Clinician builds upon the success of other organisations that have benefited from The Clinician’s technology platform and implementation experience.

The South Australia Commission on Excellence and Innovation in Health and Department for Health are implementing a comprehensive state-wide Patient Reported Measures program, while Victoria's Department of Health has expanded its Victorian Virtual Emergency Department, assisting over 100,000 Victorians since April 2022.

“Working in close partnership with TAC, we will be supporting their clients to conveniently report on the health outcomes and experiences that matter most to them, while providing physiotherapists with actionable information to make the best possible clinical decisions.” said Dr. Ron Tenenbaum, Co-Founder and CEO of The Clinician, “We are fully aligned with TAC’s value-based approach to care delivery for their clients and look forward to supporting them on their journey.”

The Enhanced Recovery Program is one of several initiatives undertaken by the TAC to develop a value-based healthcare approach, focused on delivering superior outcomes, improved patient experiences, and enhanced value for all stakeholders. The TAC remains committed to sharing findings from these ground-breaking programs and will provide regular updates on their progress.
