The Clinician completes data collection for validating the Patient-Reported Experience - Cancer (PRE-C) measure

Partnering with Griffith University and The University of Auckland to validate the newly developed PRE-C questionnaire, digital health company The Clinician has successfully collected patient experience data from more than 1000 cancer patients in a multi-site research study across three hospitals.

The PRE-C questionnaire is a patient-reported experience measure (PREM) that investigates cancer patients’ experiences with care. Examining perceptions of care in 6 key areas, the research study validating this PREM investigates whether the questionnaire is acceptable to cancer patients and whether the instrument predicts cancer patients’ needs are being met.

For the research study, patient-reported experience data was captured using The Clinician's digital health outcomes platform, ZEDOC. The ZEDOC platform enables end to end management of patient-generated health data, and consistently sees high patient engagement, as highlighted by the 98% response rate observed across the patient cohort.

“The team at The Clinician were always engaged and responsive to our needs and those of our participants. We greatly appreciated the way the ZEDOC platform enabled patient-experience data to be cleaned on entry and analyses to be undertaken quickly once the study was complete.”

Professor Alexandra (Sandie) McCarthy, Professor of Clinical Nursing at University of Queensland and Mater Health Services

The high-quality patient-reported experience data collected by The Clinician’s digital platform will be used as the basis for analysing the relevance and applicability of the PRE-C questionnaire in a real-world clinical setting. This is a key step towards understanding the needs of cancer patients with the aim to improve service quality and potentially lead to improvement in health outcomes for these patients.

“We were thrilled to be part of the PRE-C research project and deploy our ZEDOC platform for capturing patient-reported experience data across three oncology sites in New Zealand and Australia. The response rates we saw were fantastic and it was very pleasing to see how well the patients engaged with our digital platform. At The Clinician, we are passionate about measuring what matters most to patients and hope that the validation of the PRE-C questionnaire can help progress cancer care, ultimately improving health outcomes.”

About The Clinician

The Clinician is a digital health leader redefining how healthcare is measured and delivered. Our cloud-based platform, ZEDOC, enables healthcare providers to manage patient-reported health data outside traditional clinical settings and transform slow, inefficient care processes through digitisation. Tightly integrated with health information systems, ZEDOC supports timely exchange of health data and information between providers and patients, including subjective patient-reported measures (PROMs and PREMs), objective wearable / device data, and important communication or educational materials. By streamlining the digital collection of critical health data and delivery of rich educational content, ZEDOC gives healthcare providers and patients real-time, actionable information to improve health outcomes and experiences while reducing waste and inefficiencies.

The Clinician’s ZEDOC platform is built on Amazon Web Services (AWS) infrastructure, enabling the healthcare providers and health systems we work with to leverage the benefits of the cloud for developing secure and scalable digital care pathways.
