South Australia PRMs Program Goes Live at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital with The Clinician’s ZEDOC solution

The South Australia Statewide Patient Reported Measures (PRMs) Program celebrated its first go-live on 13th December 2023, with the South Australian Medical Imaging (SAMI) Nuclear Medicine Theranostics Service implementing The Clinician’s digital solution (ZEDOC) for the collection & reporting of PRMs within its patient cohort. The ZEDOC solution, provided by New Zealand-based healthcare company The Clinician, supports SA Health to deliver patient-centred, value-based healthcare through the real-time digital collection and analysis of patient reported outcome measures (PROMs) and patient-reported experience measures (PREMs).

Adjunct Professor Dr Gabrielle Cehic AM, Clinical Lead South Australian PRRT Service said, “Whilst our service has been collecting Patient Reported Outcome Measures for some years on paper, we anticipate that the availability of dashboards and reporting in ZEDOC will truly add value by making key patient quality of life information available to the entire service’s caregiving team, in real time.’”

The PRMs Program Director Megan Scott added, “We are so excited to have achieved our first implementation of The Clinician’s ZEDOC solution by working in partnership with the SAMI Theranostics service at TQEH. This important milestone for the program sees us delivering on our commitment to making patient feedback available in real time for shared consumer & clinician decision making. We look forward to seeing the collection and use of patient reported measures in the ZEDOC solution expand across SA Health services.

The Clinician’s Sara Sewell, Lead Project Manager for the South Australia Health PRMs Program said “The Clinician is delighted to be partnering with SA Health in delivering an intelligent, innovative, and reliable digital solution to improve the way PROMs and PREMs are collected, visualised and used, improving the experience for patients and clinicians alike.

The Commission on Excellence & Innovation in Health established the PRMs Program in 2021 and has worked with The Clinician team to configure the ZEDOC solution for use in SA Health clinical services.

Implementation will occur across several stages until mid 2025, with the remaining Stage 1 services to be implemented by the end of March 2024. Alongside service implementation activities, the PRMs Program and The Clinician continue to collaborate to enhance the patient experience and co-design dashboard capabilities for clinicians.  Work is also underway with Digital Health SA to achieve integration of the ZEDOC solution into the Sunrise Electronic Medical Record (EMR).

Stage 2 & 3 implementing services are currently being identified across multiple Local Health Networks with planned implementation dates for these stages occurring during 2024. Services who would like to participate are encouraged to contact the PRMs Program for more information.
