Newsweek and Statista have opened their PROMs Implementation Survey for the 2027 World's Best Hospitals rankings, open through 18 September 2026, with ICHOM as knowledge partner. This matters more than most hospitals realise.
Since 2023, PROMs have been a core pillar of the rankings methodology, which benchmarks over 2,400 hospitals across 30+ countries. Reputation and clinical metrics alone no longer carry a hospital to the top. A mature, systematic PROMs programme is now part of what separates world-class institutions from the rest.
And the bar is rising. ICHOM's Accreditation Program℠ offers a three-tiered, milestone-based pathway that certifies organisations as they mature, from early PROMs collection through to using standardised outcomes data for benchmarking and value-based payment. Accreditation and ranking performance are increasingly two sides of the same coin: both reward hospitals that measure what actually matters to patients, and do something with the data.
The gap most organisations face isn't ambition. It's the distance between collecting PROMs and running a programme that stands up to international assessment: validated instruments, ICHOM Set implementation, meaningful response rates, and outcomes data embedded in clinical workflows rather than sitting in a drawer.
That's the work we do. As an official ICHOM Implementation Partner, The Clinician guides hospitals and health systems through that journey, from first PROMs collection to ICHOM Set implementation, accreditation readiness, and ranking-ready outcomes data. Our partners have achieved response rates above 80%, embedded PROMs into national registries and quality frameworks, and earned recognition on the global stage.
